The Jamaica Tertiary Education Commission (JTEC), an agency of the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth, and Information, hired TransformIT™ Company Limited to develop and implement a Tertiary Education Management Information System (TEMIS) as a part of JTEC’s mandate to improve the quality of higher education in Jamaica. Using TEMIS, JTEC aims to increase the use of data to inform the sector’s overall management, as recommended by the Jamaica Education Transformation Commission (JETC) Report (2021).
This database will be a user-friendly, interactive web-based management information system to monitor data across all higher education institutions.
The objective is to strengthen the data management capacity of higher education institutions by increasing access to and use of tools and resources for the collecting, storage, analyzing and reporting of higher education information.
The goals are to improve the governance of the sector through increased efficiency and effectiveness of decision-making, transparency, and accountability.
